FENEX, Netherlands Association for Forwarding and Logistics As organization representing freight forwarders and logistic service providers, FENEX has looked after the interests of almost 400 national companies for over 100 years. This joint protection of interests is intended to strengthen the position of the organized freight forwarder/provider of logistic services in the Netherlands. FENEX aims to create a climate in which its members are able to operate as efficiently as possible in favourable conditions. Another important aim is to achieve and maintain healthy relationships within the freight forwarding sector. Information and advice to members are of paramount importance where quality of service is concerned. To realise these objectives, the association puts a great deal of effort into influencing decision-making in the field of transport and logistics. Excellent contacts therefore have developed within both Dutch and European political and governmental institutions. Freight forwarder / Logistic Service Provider What exactly is a freight forwarder and provider of logistic services, and what does he do? This is a grey zone for many people, including the initiate! Perhaps a travel agency is a useful analogy. If we want to go from one place to another by train, boat or aeroplane, whether to a domestic or a foreign destination, and upon arrival wish to avail ourselves of accommodation, transport and a variety of facilities, we arrange for a travel agency or tour operator to take care of things. The freight forwarder does the same for goods consignments. Contrary to human beings, goods cannot of course think for themselves or move independently. If we don’t like our hotel on the Bahamas, we get in touch with the tour operator. Goods can’t do this and therefore need close monitoring. This emphasises the importance of the role of the freight forwarder as director of goods transport. FENEX freight forwarders provide professional support for trade and industry in the execution of their international logistic processes. FENEX freight forwarders also give guarantee one another.
